36 spots (Channel Islands excluded — covered by a separate workstream). Each spot has a detail file in this directory with species, seasons, access, bait tips, attributed social evidence, validation tier, UNVERIFIED points, and six labeled images.
Social-evidence method: Facebook Groups searched first (998 posts across 5 groups), then Threads (38 results retrieved, all manually reviewed), then Instagram (connected-account search). Travel blogs, tourism sites and forum communities used only where social platforms were blank — every file says which.

- Threads: 38 results retrieved and manually reviewed — zero on-topic fishing posts (tag collisions: orcas, sunsets, MLS, missing-person, K-BBQ, road trips). Recorded as a searched-but-blank channel.
- Instagram: connected-account search returned no on-topic results; broad public search is not available in that workflow. Recorded as a gap, not as evidence.
- Where social was blank: pierfishing.com community reports, Bloodydecks forums, sdfish.org, jesseshunting.com, The Log, WON, and community YouTube/fishing-report sites carry the weight — each file names its sources.
Resolved during research (2026-09-21)
- OB Pier: closed since Oct 2023 storm damage; city pursuing full replacement; no reopening date; preferred design concept revealed ~Aug 2026.
- Oceanside Pier: 90% open; hammerhead/restaurant end destroyed in April 2026 fire; rebuild Spring 2027.
- Irvine Lake: shore-only Fri–Sun, $5 parking, no annual passes, boats/tubes banned (OC Parks, observed 2026-09-21).
- Dana Point SMCA: finfish hook-and-line take allowed; Laguna Beach SMCA (no-take) abuts to the north.
- South La Jolla SMR: Palomar Ave to Diamond St — south of Crystal Pier, not north (direction corrected).
- Long Beach Harbor: OEHHA consumption advisory in place (no white croaker; ~1 meal/week other fish).
